Heavy Rainfall to Ease NYC Air Quality Ahead of Sunday World Cup Final

According to the U.S. National Weather Service forecast meteorologist Brian Hurley, heavy rainfall expected on Sunday is forecast to significantly improve air quality in New York and Washington, D.C., ahead of the World Cup Final. The air quality concerns for Sunday's match should be "substantially better, though not completely gone," Hurley stated.

The region's air quality has deteriorated due to uncontrolled wildfires in Canada. In coming weeks, smoke may continue to drift between the Midwest, Northeast, and southern Canada as hundreds of wildfires remain active.
