151 Million Americans Face Extreme Heat on Friday, 87 Million Hit by Canadian Wildfire Smoke

According to Bob Oravec, a senior forecaster at the U.S. National Weather Service, approximately 151 million Americans will experience extreme heat on Friday (July 18) across a region spanning from the Northern Rocky Mountains through the Mid-Atlantic to the Gulf Coast. Simultaneously, Canadian wildfire smoke is affecting air quality for around 87 million people across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions. Some 70 million Americans are facing both heat and smoke threats concurrently.
