2月12日消息，美國司法部宣布對點對點加密平台Paxful處以400萬美元罰款。該公司此前承認，其在缺乏反洗錢與客戶盡職調查機制的情況下，長期為犯罪分子轉移資金，並從中直接獲利。相關資金被指與人口販運、詐騙、敲詐勒索及非法賣淫活動有關。
檢方披露，2017年1月至2019年9月期間，Paxful促成了超過2600萬筆交易，總金額接近30億美元，並獲得約2970萬美元收益。司法部指出，該公司曾對外宣傳“無需身份信息”的平台定位，並發布並未實際執行的反洗錢政策，從而吸引高風險客戶。
調查顯示，Paxful曾與被查封的非法分類廣告網站Backpage及類似平台存在合作關係。美國司法部稱，其創始人曾私下吹噓“Backpage效應”推動了平台增長。僅在2015年至2022年間，這類合作就為平台帶來約270萬美元利潤。
原本檢方認為應處以1.125億美元罰款，但考慮到公司已停止運營且無力支付，最終裁定為400萬美元。Paxful已於2025年底關閉。公司曾在聲明中將倒閉歸因於前管理層的不當行為與高昂合規整改成本。
前聯合創始人Ray Youssef回應稱，平台早已在其離任前陷入不可逆轉的困境。另一位聯合創始人兼前技術負責人Artur Schaback已於2024年承認共謀未能維護反洗錢體系，目前正等待量刑。
此案被視為美國強化加密合規執法的又一標誌性事件，也向行業釋放出清晰信號：無視反洗錢義務的平台，將面臨刑事與監管雙重高壓。
