Gyeonggi Province Launches Stablecoin PoC Project in August with Zero-Knowledge Proof Technology

According to Etoday, South Korea's Gyeonggi Province announced on July 11 that it will launch a stablecoin-based proof-of-concept (PoC) project in August to explore blockchain stablecoin applications in local currency, public subsidies, and payment systems. The PoC will focus on validating three core technologies: programmable payments, zero-knowledge proofs, and reserve proofs that verify in real-time whether stablecoin issuance matches underlying assets. If progress proceeds as planned, the project will enter a second testing phase during October-December to assess fraud prevention, privacy mechanisms, applicable use cases, and feedback from residents and businesses.
