GateNews

Gate News message: On April 13, U.S. President Trump threatened to impose 50% tariffs on China. The trigger was reports that China is planning to ship air defense systems to Iran. The report has not yet been confirmed, but U.S. intelligence officials said China could provide man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) to Iran, and if that proves true, it would further intensify tensions in the Middle East. On April 13, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to the allegations at a press conference, stressing that China has always taken a cautious and responsible approach to arms exports, strictly managing them in accordance with its domestic export control laws and regulations and international obligations, and opposing unfounded slander or malicious association.
