South Korea's Financial Services Commission Includes Crypto in Voice Phishing Victim Compensation on July 15

According to the Financial Services Commission, South Korea announced on July 15 an amendment to expand voice phishing (보이스피싱) victim compensation to include digital assets. The revision adds cryptocurrency exchanges to the scope of regulated financial companies and extends compensation payable in digital assets rather than fiat currency only. Compensation will include digital asset transfers, with values assessed at market rates at the time of payment suspension. The FSC will accept public comments until August 24, with the amended rules set to take effect on October 1.
