According to BlockBeats, SK Hynix raised $26.5 billion in a record U.S. listing on July 27, triggering a sharp appreciation of the Korean won as the company sold dollars in the market. The move has prompted South Korea's government to accelerate efforts encouraging exporters to repatriate overseas dollar earnings and convert foreign revenues into won. Stephen Lee, an economist at Seoul-based Meritz Securities, noted that SK Hynix's dollar sales have sparked a broader corporate selling wave, with other exporters following suit to convert delayed foreign currency earnings into won.
