Polymarket Account Linked to Farage Backer Took $8.8M in Crypto From Unknown Sources: FT

According to the Financial Times, a Polymarket account registered as "GCottrell93" in the name of George Cottrell—a convicted fraudster who has funded Reform UK leader Nigel Farage—received $8.8 million in cryptocurrency from unidentified sources in late October 2024. The account was filled with $7 million from OKX in five tranches and $1.83 million routed through ChangeNOW, then immediately staked on Donald Trump winning the U.S. election. After Trump's victory, the account generated $4.46 million in profit, with nearly all funds subsequently moved to other wallets. Neither the source of the money nor the recipient of the winnings has been disclosed. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has said he holds "high confidence" the account belongs to Cottrell.
