Meta Surges 15% as Cloud Strategy, AI Models Monetization Gain Market Traction; Chip Stocks Volatile

According to CNBC Investing Club, Meta Platforms jumped 15% for the week, becoming the club's best performer as the company accelerated efforts to monetize its massive AI infrastructure. On July 1, Meta confirmed it is preparing to launch a cloud business to sell excess computing power, competing with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. The company followed with the Tuesday launch of Muse Image, an AI image-generation model for creators and advertisers, and Thursday's unveiling of Muse Spark 1.1 for coding and agentic AI tasks—marking a strategic shift toward paid developer access. CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Bloomberg that rental deals for compute capacity may prove more profitable than internal use. Meanwhile, semiconductor stocks remained volatile. Apple's announcement of a multiyear chip partnership with Broadcom, expected to exceed $30 billion and including $1.5 billion in manufacturing expansion in Colorado, helped stabilize the sector Wednesday. The broader market gained ground, with Nasdaq rising 1.74% and the S&P 500 up 1.23% for the week, though the Dow fell 0.5% amid Iran tensions.
