Lotte Energy Materials Expands AI Chipset Copper Foil Capacity 4x to 16,000 Tons by H1 2027

According to CEO Kim Yeon-seop's statement at a July 9 investor relations day, Lotte Energy Materials will expand AI chipset copper foil production capacity to 16,000 tons by the first half of 2027, up from the current 3,700 tons. The company aims to capitalize on structural supply shortages in AI-driven semiconductor demand.

The South Korean manufacturer, the sole domestic supplier of copper foil, has received approvals from major tech companies for next-generation AI accelerator products. The company is also pursuing ultra-thin and ultra-high reliability copper foil for advanced packaging applications, leveraging high technical barriers to maintain competitive advantage in limited-supply markets.
