Envestnet launched Wealth Trading, a portfolio trading platform unifying portfolio management, trade creation, order review, execution and post-trade oversight. The platform addresses demand from registered investment advisers, broker-dealers and enterprise wealth firms for institutional-grade trading technology. Envestnet supports more than $7 trillion in platform assets and over one-third of U.S. financial advisors, making the redesign a significant infrastructure shift as wealth management becomes increasingly sophisticated with larger client bases, personalized portfolios and regulatory oversight requirements.
Wealth Trading replaces Envestnet's legacy trading experience with a single environment combining portfolio analysis, trade generation, order review, execution management, reconciliation and audit history. Advisors can move from reviewing portfolios to executing approved trades without switching applications, while compliance teams gain visibility into approvals, workflow status and historical activity.
The platform includes Portfolio Explorer, which provides customizable portfolio views, working lists, advanced filtering and background processing. Trade Actions support nine distinct workflows, including portfolio rebalancing, trading to target allocations, cash management, tax-loss harvesting and liquidation strategies. Additional modules covering Order Review, Worksheet Trading, Order Management, Action History and Trade History provide firms with oversight throughout the entire trading process.
Andrew Stavaridis, Chief Relationship Officer at Envestnet, said: "Wealth Trading represents a significant advancement in the advisor trading experience. Built in close partnership with our clients, it delivers the speed, flexibility and transparency firms need to support increasingly sophisticated trading operations while creating a more intuitive experience for advisors."
Modern advisory firms routinely manage thousands of portfolios, each with different investment objectives, tax considerations, risk profiles and model allocations. Every portfolio rebalance may require hundreds or thousands of individual trades while satisfying client restrictions, tax-loss harvesting opportunities, cash management requirements and regulatory obligations.
Independent registered investment advisers continue to consolidate, while larger firms manage growing numbers of client accounts alongside increasingly personalized investment strategies. Regulators expect firms to maintain comprehensive records of investment decisions, approvals and execution processes. Modern portfolio trading systems must coordinate multiple users, maintain auditability, enforce permissions, support compliance reviews and integrate with custodians and portfolio accounting systems.
Many capabilities introduced in Wealth Trading have long been familiar within institutional asset management. Workflow management, bulk order approvals, scenario-based trading, centralized order management and detailed audit histories have traditionally been associated with institutional trading desks handling pension funds, mutual funds and hedge funds. Advisory firms increasingly require similar functionality as they oversee larger books of business across multiple custodians and client segments.
Envestnet said the platform was developed using extensive feedback from advisors and enterprise clients, incorporating frequently used capabilities from across its existing trading ecosystem into a unified experience. One national wealth management firm migrated several thousand advisors onto Wealth Trading in fewer than three months following phased testing and implementation.
Tyler Davidson, Head of Product Management at Envestnet, said: "Trading sits at the heart of the advisor-client relationship, yet too often technology introduces unnecessary complexity. Wealth Trading was designed to remove friction, reduce complexity, and give advisors a faster path from decision to execution. Whether they're managing a single account or thousands of portfolios, advisors now have a trading experience built for speed, transparency and control."
