Chinese Lithium Enterprises in Zimbabwe Obtain Export Permits for Lithium Concentrate

Gate News message, April 20 — Multiple Chinese lithium enterprises operating in Zimbabwe have obtained export permits for lithium concentrate, according to Chen Hongliang, president of Huayou Cobalt, speaking at the company’s 2025 annual and Q1 2026 earnings briefing on April 20. The export procedures are currently in progress across all companies.

Huayou Cobalt produces lithium concentrate and lithium sulfate in Zimbabwe. Once export procedures are fully completed, shipments to China will require approximately three months. The company noted that its Guangxi carbonate lithium feedstock supply may face potential shortages, though this is not expected to cause significant impact.

Chinese enterprises with lithium mining capacity in Zimbabwe include Huayou Cobalt, China Mineral Resources, Shengxin Lithium, and Yahua Group.
