Andy Burnham to Appoint Shebana Mahmood as UK Chancellor, July 15

According to the Financial Times, Shebana Mahmood, current UK Home Secretary, is expected to be appointed as Britain's next Chancellor of the Exchequer, according to three people familiar with Andy Burnham's plans on July 15. Burnham's spokesperson declined to comment on the speculation but stated that cabinet positions would be formally confirmed on Monday once Burnham takes office as Prime Minister. One person familiar with the plan said: "It's definitely going to happen." Meanwhile, Ed Miliband, the current Energy Secretary and previously considered a leading candidate for Chancellor, is now more likely to be appointed as Foreign Secretary instead.
