29% of Executives Struggle With AI Pay-Per-Use Costs, Nearly Half Delay Deployment

According to KPMG's latest global survey of 2,145 executives across 20 countries, 29% of enterprise leaders struggle to understand and control operational costs when scaling AI, as major tech companies including Anthropic, OpenAI, and GitHub shift from fixed subscription models to usage-based pricing. The report found that nearly 49% of organizations have delayed or adjusted their AI deployment plans due to costs exceeding expected value, while one-third of executives cite insufficient knowledge of AI economics as a barrier to deploying AI agents.
