# Genes, Talent, IQ, and Inheritance: Hard-Core Cold Knowledge

*Parents aren't excellent yet aggressively pushing kids is wrong*
*So-called regression to the mean is too simple—you're getting it wrong*
*Marrying an excellent woman is more important than you imagine*
*When both sides are high-IQ, risk begins to increase*

## 1. Talent and parental genes are extremely correlated
IQ, musical talent, athletic ability, etc. all have heritability rates of 50-80%; genes aren't everything, but they set the ceiling. If parents have a strong talent pool, your child's probability is higher.

## 2. Boys = High-leverage, high-volatility stocks; Girls = Stable value stocks
This is scientifically called the greater male variability hypothesis, confirmed by extensive research:
- Boys show wider distribution in IQ, talent, and other traits—they have the opportunity to far exceed parental limits (produce top geniuses), but are also more easily significantly below average (higher risk).
- Girls have smaller fluctuations, more likely to be close to or slightly above parental average—stable and reliable.
- Result: Both extreme geniuses and extreme lows are predominantly boys. This is the essential difference between "high risk, high return" vs. "steady value creation"!

## 3. Part of boys' inheritance skews toward the mother
Boys' X chromosome comes 100% from mothers, Y from fathers, and the X chromosome indeed has more genes related to brain development and cognition.
- So if father sings well and mother averagely, son will probably sing averagely.
- Daughters can perfectly blend both parents' genetic combinations.
- Faye Wong + Dou Wei's daughter Dou Jingtong—no guessing needed, her musical genes are maxed out.

## 4. Smart people prefer to marry smart people
Smart people are more easily attracted to smart people; smart people find it harder to tolerate low IQ.
- So it's true that elite talent more easily produces outstanding talent.

## 5. But in cases of extreme genius, regression to the mean is probable
Because at IQ 140 and above, the higher it goes, the more likely autism, depression, and various mental issues appear—it's like God's species upper limit setting.
