Gate News message, April 11, according to multiple people familiar with the matter, U.S. Vice President Vance will arrive in Islamabad on Saturday to hold talks with Iranian officials. The talks are expected to fulfill the wishes of Iran’s current leadership, some of whom have long wanted Vance to play a leading role in negotiations to end the war. A regional official and four people familiar with the negotiations said that Iran views Vance as one of the most anti-war figures in President Trump’s inner circle. These sources said that Vance’s long-standing anti-war reputation—his political calling card—leads Tehran to believe that, among Trump’s associates, Vance is the most likely to genuinely seek an agreement.
