Gate News message, April 17 — U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned yesterday (April 16) that if Iran makes the wrong choice and rejects a nuclear agreement, the U.S. military will be prepared to resume combat operations. Speaking at a Pentagon press conference alongside Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman CQ Brown and U.S. Central Command Chief General Erik Kurilla, Austin stated that Iran would face a blockade and bombing of its infrastructure if it refuses to reach a deal. The Pentagon is closely monitoring Iranian military movements, he added.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury Department has launched “Operation Economic Fury,” mobilizing the full force of the government to impose maximum economic pressure on Iran. The coordinated military and economic measures represent a significant escalation in U.S. pressure on Tehran amid ongoing nuclear negotiations.
