Gate News message, April 17 — Shinsegae Group, South Korea’s major retail conglomerate, and U.S. AI company Reflection AI announced on April 17 that they are advancing a comprehensive retail innovation project integrating AI across six core operational areas: product sourcing, ordering, pricing, logistics, inventory management, and customer management.
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding last month in San Francisco for building and jointly operating an AI data center. Reflection AI CEO Misha Laskin will visit South Korea later this month to meet with Emart, Shinsegae’s flagship retailer, and discuss implementation strategies. The companies expect AI integration to enhance productivity, optimize inventory, and improve customer satisfaction through real-time product availability and dynamic pricing.
To focus resources on the Reflection AI partnership and AI data center development, Shinsegae Group has decided to discontinue discussions with OpenAI on AI collaboration, according to a company statement.
