CFTC sues New York State over prediction market jurisdiction

The CFTC filed a lawsuit against New York State to stop the state from applying gambling laws to prediction market platforms. The dispute follows New York actions against prediction market subsidiaries linked to Coinbase and Gemini. CFTC Chairman Michael Gillick said jurisdiction over prediction markets belongs to the federal agency, not state governments.
