These days, there's been a lot of talk about royalties in the secondary market, basically everyone wants to be a bit more "free": buyers want to pay less, platforms want to facilitate more transactions, creators don't want to be cut down to just sentimental value. But I've been watching on-chain data for a while, and it feels a bit cold: royalties aren't a moral issue, more like a "default rule" that hasn't been tested—once people can easily bypass it, they'll vote with their feet.
Sometimes I think about the Layer 2s' debates over TPS, fees, and subsidies, and it feels similar: everyone is fighting for the same attention, just using different words. In the end, it might not be the loudest that wins, but whoever can embed incentives into habits, making it effortless and willing for people to follow. As for me, I’ll keep observing for now, occasionally doing small experiments with emotional indicators, to see if this controversy will flatten someone’s "trust curve."
