NATO stated that the last batch of personnel from the NATO mission in Iraq left Iraq on March 20th. The statement pointed out that the NATO mission in Iraq will continue to operate based on the joint forces command located in Naples, Italy. The mission is non-combat in nature, mainly providing advisory and capacity-building support to help Iraq improve its security institutions, enhance its ability to independently maintain national stability, combat terrorism, and prevent the resurgence of extremist organizations.
