The White House releases a cybersecurity strategy document, incorporating cryptocurrency and blockchain for the first time and emphasizing the fight against anonymous financial channels.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Galaxy Research Director Alex Thorn posted on the X platform that the White House has released the U.S. Cyber Strategy document titled “President Trump’s Cyber Strategy for America.” The strategy is 7 pages long with 6 main pillars, emphasizing cyber offense and deterrence, but with limited details on implementation. The document explicitly mentions cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology for the first time in U.S. cybersecurity strategy, stating they need to be “protected and secured.” Previously, President Joe Biden’s 2023 National Cybersecurity Strategy did not mention these technologies. However, the strategy also states the goal to “eliminate criminal infrastructure and cut off financial exit channels,” along with new executive orders to combat transnational cybercrime. Analysts believe this wording may provide policy basis for regulators to strengthen actions against mixers, privacy coins, and unregulated deposit and withdrawal channels.
Additionally, the strategy proposes expanding offensive cyber operations and plans to mobilize the private sector to combat hostile networks, while promoting AI-driven automated cyber defense systems. The accompanying executive order will also establish a new operational unit within the National Coordination Center to coordinate law enforcement efforts against transnational cybercrime groups.
