According to media reports, Zhipu AI has begun constructing a 1-gigawatt AI computing data center in China using exclusively domestically produced AI chips. Following the announcement, Hong Kong-listed Zhipu shares surged 8.65% to HK$967.5 (US$120).

The company completed its acquisition of Zhongke Jiahe, a Chinese heterogeneous computing software firm, which analysts said would enable Zhipu to optimize utilization across different AI chip architectures. The 1GW facility is notably large for an AI data center and supports China's broader efforts to develop local AI hardware capabilities.
