U.S. Consumer Confidence Falls to 90.8 in July, Missing Forecast of 92.3

According to the Conference Board, U.S. consumer confidence declined to 90.8 in July, falling short of market expectations of 92.3 and marking a 1.4-point drop from June. This continued the downward trend since late 2021, according to Dana Peterson, chief economist at the Conference Board. The present conditions index fell 3.6 points to 114.9, marking three consecutive months of decline, while the expectations index remained flat at 74.7.
