Upbit Operator Dunamu Increases Cybersecurity Investment 65% to 24.3 Billion Won

According to the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), Dunamu, which operates Upbit, increased its information security investment to 24.34 billion won in 2025, up 64.7% year-over-year. Bithumb also boosted its cybersecurity spending to 12.37 billion won, rising 34.8% from the previous year. The exchanges' aggressive security investments now exceed spending levels of major domestic securities firms, with Dunamu surpassing Korea Investment & Securities (18.8 billion won) and Bithumb matching NH Investment & Securities (12.4 billion won). However, the total investment remains below South Korea's four major banks, which each spent between 36.4 billion and 43.3 billion won on information security. As a proportion of overall IT spending, the exchanges allocated 9.5–13.4% to cybersecurity, outpacing banks' 8.0–9.1% allocation.
