Trump Proposes 20% Strait of Hormuz Fee, Raising Costs to $30 Million Per Supertanker

According to Bloomberg, President Trump on July 13 proposed a 20% compensation fee on cargo transported through the Strait of Hormuz. For a fully loaded supertanker carrying approximately 2 million barrels of crude oil at current prices around $80 per barrel, this would amount to roughly $30 million per voyage.

This contrasts sharply with Iran's previous interim practice of charging a maximum of $2 million per transit.
