Gate News message, April 23 — TikTok announced a comprehensive crackdown on AI-generated content that infringes on user rights, disclosing that it has removed over 538,000 videos and penalized more than 4,000 accounts to date. The platform will prioritize enforcement against AI deepfakes, voice cloning, impersonation, and unauthorized commercial use of celebrity likenesses.

According to TikTok’s governance report for 2026, the platform has removed 360,000 videos involving AI-based impersonation and trend-jacking, processed 85,000 pieces of content featuring unauthorized AI-generated facial likenesses and voice cloning, and cleaned up over 30,000 pieces of misleading “AI romance scam” content targeting middle-aged and elderly users, with 1,300 associated accounts penalized. The platform acknowledged ongoing industry challenges, including difficulty in identifying AI-generated content and limitations in voice recognition capabilities.

On April 9, WeChat announced updates to its public platform operating standards, prohibiting accounts from using AI, scripts, or automated tools to replace human creators in content production and distribution. Violations will result in traffic restrictions, content deletion, or account suspension. On March 27, WeChat had formalized these rules, covering AI-generated content, automated posting via scripts, and promotion of non-human automated creation methods.

Red Fruit Short Drama reported on April 6 that it removed 1,718 non-compliant animated series in Q1 2026. Following a surge in unauthorized AI material usage, the platform conducted comprehensive reviews of 15,000 works, removed 670 non-compliant productions, and exposed four categories of typical violations. The platform emphasized its commitment to protecting original content and preventing unauthorized use of AI-generated materials.
