U.S. stock indices ended mixed on Friday, concluding their second consecutive week lower as investors assessed big-tech earnings amid elevated oil prices and geopolitical tensions. The S&P 500 rose 0.1% to 7,411.98, while the Nasdaq 100 fell 1.2% to 28,128.34, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.5% to 51,947.25. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF declined 3.2%, dragged down by weakness in chipmakers including Nvidia and Broadcom.

Brent crude futures rebounded to $96.78 per barrel following reports that Pakistan is exploring peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran under Chinese initiative, though oil remains elevated ahead of next week's Federal Reserve policy meeting. Meanwhile, Qualcomm announced plans to increase component prices by double-digit percentages starting late summer; Paramount Skydance agreed to freeze its $110 billion Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition until June 2027; Waymo is exploring options to exit its robotaxi partnership with Uber; Verizon signed a fiber infrastructure deal with Google valued at over $1 billion; and Intel partnered with Lens Technology on glass substrate-based semiconductor packaging.
