South Korea's Top 5 Banks' Household Loan Delinquency Rate Hits 10-Year High at 0.33% in Q2

According to Hankyoreh, South Korea's five major banks (KB Kookmin, Shinhan, Hana, Woori, and NH Nonghyup) reported a household loan delinquency rate of 0.33% at the end of Q2 2026, up 0.01 percentage point from Q1 and marking the highest level since Q1 2016. NH Nonghyup Bank recorded the highest delinquency rate at 0.48%, the highest since Q2 2014.

Delinquency rates for small and medium-sized enterprises also continued rising, averaging 0.58% across the five banks in Q2, up from 0.49% at end of 2025. Non-performing loans of more than three months reached 7.43 trillion won, the highest level in approximately eight years.
