South Korea's KOSDAQ Plunges Nearly 5%, Triggers 20th Sell-Side Circuit Breaker This Year

According to Korean Exchange, on July 14, KOSDAQ index plunged nearly 5%, triggering a sell-side circuit breaker at 12:06 p.m. local time. KOSDAQ 150 futures fell 84.70 points (6.08%) to 1306.80, while the KOSDAQ 150 spot index declined 86.69 points (6.25%) to 1298.20.

KOSPI also breached the 6,500 level, falling 204.99 points (3.01%) to 6601.94 as of the same time, with intraday lows reaching 6448.86. KOSDAQ hit an intraday year-to-date low of 749.76. Major semiconductor and battery stocks led declines, with Altheogen down over 15% and other large-cap names including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix posting significant losses.
