South Korea Launches 100 Billion Won Fund for Marine Industry Development on July 16

According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 16, South Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries unveiled eight key initiatives, including a 100 billion won fund to attract companies to the southeastern region and pilot Arctic shipping routes. The ministry plans to launch trial operations connecting Busan and Europe via the Arctic route from August to September, while advancing AI-based smart port technology and autonomous vessel development. Additionally, the ministry reported a 21.4% year-over-year increase in fishery product exports, reaching $1.93 billion in the first half of 2026.
