SEC Chair Paul Atkins Sets 2026 Agenda for Crypto Rulemaking and Tokenized Securities

SEC Chair Paul Atkins announced the agency's 2026 regulatory agenda today, focusing on crypto rulemaking, digital asset custody, and onchain trading of tokenized securities. The initiative aims to clarify rules for crypto capital raising and strengthen the United States' position as a global crypto market leader, according to Atkins.

The SEC is also preparing a proposal called "Regulation Crypto," expected to arrive this month. The proposal is anticipated to provide temporary registration exemptions for certain crypto activities and create a safe harbor for digital asset projects reducing managerial control.
