Schwab Retail Investors Increase Tech Stock Buying in June, STAX Index Hits 59.12, Up 7.33%

According to Charles Schwab's Trading Activity Index (STAX), retail investors' trading activity surged to 59.12 in June, up 7.33% from May's 55.08. Net buying outpaced net selling by more than 2 to 1, with the strongest activity during a market retreat mid-month.

Net buying was concentrated in technology stocks, primarily SpaceX (market debut June 12), Nvidia, Micron Technology, and Microsoft. The STAX is calculated from trading patterns across millions of Schwab customer accounts.
