Samsung BioLogics Acquires PolyPeptide Group for 2.7 Trillion Won on July 20

According to Samsung BioLogics, the company announced on July 20 the acquisition of PolyPeptide Group for approximately 2.7 trillion Korean won (roughly 2 billion U.S. dollars), marking the largest M&A deal in South Korea's pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Samsung BioLogics will acquire 100% of PolyPeptide Group's shares through a controlling shareholder stake purchase and public offer, with the transaction expected to close by end of December 2026. The acquisition expands Samsung BioLogics' service portfolio from its traditional focus on monoclonal antibodies, messenger RNA (mRNA), and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) into the rapidly growing peptide therapeutics sector. PolyPeptide Group, founded in 1996 as a spinoff of Ferring Pharmaceuticals' peptide production business, is a Swiss-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in peptide drugs.
