Ripple CEO Compares XRP to Bitcoin: 4-Second Transactions vs 10 Minutes, Lower Fees

XRP-0.86%
BTC-0.21%
According to Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, speaking at a recent event, XRP transactions complete in approximately 4 seconds globally, compared to Bitcoin transactions which can take about 10 minutes with fees sometimes reaching $10. Garlinghouse emphasized that XRP's transaction costs are "very, very small" and highlighted that speed and cost are critical factors for practical technology adoption. He clarified that Ripple designed XRP primarily for banks and financial institutions to address cross-border payment challenges, noting that international money transfers currently suffer from delays, high costs, and errors. Garlinghouse stated the comparison was not criticism of Bitcoin, but rather to underscore XRP's role in solving real problems in the current financial system.
