According to Bloomberg documents obtained by the news outlet, Qualcomm notified customers on Friday (July 24) that products shipped from September 1 will see double-digit price increases. The company said it can no longer absorb rising supplier costs and has limited success sourcing alternative components from new suppliers.
The chipmaker is facing an unprecedented supply shortage across the technology industry, driven by surging demand for memory chips and semiconductors from AI data center buildouts. This shortage affects smartphones, supercomputers, and automotive sectors. Qualcomm is a major client of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and supplies chips to smartphone makers including Samsung Electronics and Xiaomi.
