Onsemi Sells Philippines Packaging Plant to Greatek, US Facility to Silex; Targets $35M Annual Cost Savings

On July 7, semiconductor manufacturer Onsemi announced the sale of two chip manufacturing facilities as part of its cost reduction and profitability improvement initiative. The Philippines-based packaging facility in Tarlac will be sold to Taiwan-based Greatek Electronics, with the transaction expected to close within three to six months. Onsemi's Pennsylvania facility in Mountain Top will be sold to Swedish semiconductor company Silex Microsystems, with closure targeted for January 2028. The company estimates combined savings of approximately $35 million annually, with benefits beginning in 2027 and fully reflected in operations by 2028.
