Mistral AI Launches 8B Robostral Navigate Navigation Model for Robots

According to Bloomberg, Mistral AI launched Robostral Navigate, an 8 billion-parameter embodied navigation model for robots, on July 8. The model uses RGB images and plain-language instructions to navigate offices, homes, commercial buildings, and outdoor environments with a single camera, eliminating the need for LiDAR or depth sensors. Robostral Navigate works across wheeled, legged, and flying robots using a navigation-via-pointing method. In testing on the Room-to-Room Continuous Environment benchmark, the model achieved 79.4% success on familiar environments and 76.6% on unseen environments after training on approximately 400,000 simulated trajectories across 6,000 scenes.
