Mirae Asset Completes Korbit Acquisition for $91M, Takes 92% Stake of South Korea's Oldest Crypto Exchange

Korbit announced on Thursday that Mirae Asset Consulting, a subsidiary of Mirae Asset Group overseeing more than $1 trillion in assets, has completed its acquisition and become the exchange's largest shareholder after receiving regulatory approval from South Korea's Fair Trade Commission on July 9. Mirae Asset acquired approximately 26.9 million shares for 133.5 billion won (roughly $91 million), securing a 92.06% stake. The firm subsequently filed to purchase an additional 1.59 million shares for 7.89 billion won on July 21, raising its planned holding to 97.15% and total investment to 141.4 billion won. Korbit said operating procedures, user asset custody arrangements, and service access will remain unchanged following the ownership transition.
