Maersk Raises Emergency Surcharges on India-to-West Africa Route to $900 Per Container, Effective August 10

According to Jin10 Futures, Maersk announced an increase in emergency contingency surcharges (ECS) on its India and Pakistan to West Africa route, effective August 10, 2026 (price calculation date). The surcharge per container will rise from $400 to $900 for 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, 40-foot high-cube reefer containers, and 45-foot high-cube dry containers. The new rate also applies to out-of-gauge containers, shipper-owned containers, and reefer-substitute dry containers.
