The London Stock Exchange plans to launch LSE 24, an overnight trading venue, in the first half of 2027 to extend access to selected securities beyond conventional market hours. The new venue will operate from 5 p.m. to 7:50 a.m. London time with a 30-minute pause from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for end-of-day processing, while the main market retains its 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule.
LSE 24 will initially offer exchange-traded products rather than individual shares, with over 2,600 listed ETPs including funds linked to equities, bonds, and commodities. The move reflects global exchanges responding to competition from cryptocurrency platforms that operate continuously, with Nasdaq, NYSE, and CME Group also exploring extended-access models across time zones.
