Lido Core 2.0 Upgrade Launches Validator Consolidation, Cutting Ethereum Beacon Chain by 29%

ETH-1.66%
Lido has launched its Core 2.0 protocol upgrade on July 28, introducing native 0x02 validator support and triggering a validator consolidation that will reduce Ethereum's beacon chain by approximately 29%. The Curated Module v2 (CMv2) enables migration of over 265,000 existing validators from legacy credentials through consolidation, shrinking the total validator set from roughly 880,000 to an estimated 628,000. According to Lido's protocol blog, this consolidation meaningfully reduces per-epoch attestation messages and networking load across the entire Ethereum network, independent of protocol adoption.
