Korea's Domestic Market Return Accounts Reach 313,594 with 2.656 Trillion Won by Late June

According to South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSC), domestic market return accounts (RIA) reached 313,594 as of late June 2026, with total balances hitting 2.656 trillion won. The accounts surged approximately 3.8-fold in account count and 6.4-fold in assets from end-March, reflecting heightened investor interest in tax incentives for redirecting overseas stock proceeds into domestic equities.

The FSC emphasized that investors must complete overseas stock sales by July 31 to qualify for 80 percent capital gains tax relief. Starting August 1, the tax exemption rate will drop to 50 percent.
