According to Bitcoin Magazine, Kazakhstan's government approved a strategic digital mining program on July 18 that requires miners to transfer 10% of mined digital assets to the state after covering electricity and grid service costs. The program, established through a presidential decree signed July 7 and government resolution no. 638, aims to build a national strategic crypto reserve managed by the National Bank's investment arm, routing mining output through regulated state infrastructure.

Under the initiative, approved miners receive 10-year electricity contracts at capped rates from state power producers. Initial allocation includes a 300-megawatt quota from the Ekibastuz GRES-1 coal plant, with participating data centers required to operate at least 150 megawatts and run equipment reaching 150 terahashes per second.
