According to Yonhap News Agency, Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 834.96 points (-1.22%) to 67,422 as of 9:15 AM JST on July 8, driven by escalating US-Iran military tensions and weakness in US semiconductor stocks. The TOPIX index declined 40.91 points (-1.01%) to 4,021.35. Rising geopolitical uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz pushed crude prices higher, with WTI crude for August delivery up 2.90% to $72.48 per barrel and Brent crude rising 2.74% to $76.19.
