Global May 2026 Ranks Second-Hottest on Record at 15.81°C, EU Agency Reports

According to the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service, May 2026 saw global surface temperatures average 15.81 degrees Celsius, marking the second-hottest May on record, surpassed only by May 2024. This represents an increase of 0.55 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average for the same period and 1.42 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
