German Firms Postpone Investments as Energy Prices Surge; One-Third Citing Costs on July 27

According to a survey released Monday by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), surging energy prices are forcing German enterprises to postpone investments and consider relocating production overseas. In the annual survey of over 3,000 companies, nearly half reported rising electricity costs and more than two-thirds experienced increased heating expenses over the past year. Approximately one-third of surveyed firms cited high energy prices as reason for delaying investments, while nearly one-fifth said they are considering reducing domestic production or relocating operations abroad.
