French Court Shortens Le Pen Election Ban, Making Her Eligible for 2027 Presidential Race

According to Holger Schmieding's report, on July 7, a French court shortened the public office ban on Marine Le Pen, making her eligible to run in the 2027 presidential election. However, uncertainty remains about whether she will actually be her party's candidate. The court upheld her conviction for misusing EU funds and ruled that she must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet for one year. Le Pen has previously suggested she may not run under such conditions. If she declines, Jordan Bardella, her protégé and a more popular figure with a less hardline EU stance, could become the National Rally's candidate.
