According to an official announcement on July 13, China's Ministry of Civil Affairs and 13 other departments jointly released the Rehabilitation Assistive Device Industry Expansion and Quality Enhancement Three-Year Action Plan (2026–2028). The plan aims to establish a new industrial landscape by 2028 with enhanced market actors, stronger infrastructure, improved brands, active markets, and innovation leadership.
Brain-computer interfaces are designated as a key frontier technology breakthrough under the plan. The initiative targets non-invasive BCI development combined with rehabilitation robotics, aiming to accelerate clinical transformation and commercial applications. China's BCI-related enterprises have grown to nearly 200 companies, representing approximately 22 percent of the global total of 800 BCI firms.
