Amazon to Pay $2.5B Settlement Over Unauthorized Prime Enrollments, Deadline July 27

According to Yahoo! Finance, Prime customers have until July 27 to claim compensation from Amazon's $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission over unauthorized enrollment allegations. The settlement resolves a 2023 FTC lawsuit accusing Amazon of pushing tens of millions into Prime subscriptions without proper consent and blocking cancellation attempts. Amazon agreed to provide $1.5 billion in customer refunds and pay a $1 billion civil penalty, though the company denied wrongdoing.

To qualify, customers must have been US Prime members who enrolled via challenged sign-up pages or failed to cancel online between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, while using three or fewer Prime benefits within any 12-month period. Eligible customers may receive up to $51 through check, PayPal, or Venmo, with payments expected in late 2026.
